Nauvoo, the Beautiful
For years as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Lattery-Day Saints, I have heard about how beautiful Nauvoo is.
Nauvoo is a little town in Illinois. It used to be a large bustling city, almost as large as Chicago in it's day.
The prophet Joseph Smith and a group of Latter-Day Saints decided to make it their home after being driven out of Kirklan and Palmyra.
Under the direction of Joseph Smith, they drained this once swampy land and created a spot for families to come to live and raise their families.
Many a family did come. A thriving community was built. Eventullay, they build teh Nauvoo temple.
Eventually, the saints had to move on to live elsewhere due to mobs attacking them because of their religion. Many of the saints left the area. Years went by and the area is being restored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
The Nauvoo Temple has been rebuild. It stands beautfully above the Mississippi River. It, the town, and along with the pageant and great music you can see and hear is a must for for anyone's travel plans.
