Maverick is an 8 year old Morgan gelding. He stands 15.3 hands and has a sweet disposition. Every now and then, he has alittle maverick streak and likes to do a 180 to 360 degree spin with his mom(Robin) on top. He must be trying to dance. So far during these last 16 months, mom has not fallen off again. His most recent jig was when a little yellow, electrical firebird car that they make for children to drive came whizzing past the area yesturday. I saw it coming and was getting ready to move him away from the direction the car was coming, but Maverick beat me to it and did his hop, skip, and a jump to move to the left away from the "scarey car."
I won't go into my thoughts of little kids driving those cars......but the ranch manager will get to read my lips.
PS. The little green slime on Maverick's mouth is "horse foam". When a horse is working the bit and enjoying his ride, he developes foam in his mouth. There are various degrees of foam and what they mean. The foam in his mouth on this day was tinted green due to having recently eaten hay, and he was enjoying his ride. If they aren't enjoying their ride or activity, there is an abundance of runny foam.....uh...gross....
