Marriage to do list: The Surprise, A Well Thought Out Plan
Friday...the weekend was here! I was suppose to go to a book review, but I wanted to do something special with David. I went to the grocery store at lunch to get supplies for a really fun dinner. I got tasty garlic bread sticks, yummy tomatoe basil and garlic spaghetti sauce, asparagus, watermelon, cantelope and brownies to make for dinner. After laying out my goods to start dinner, David called about 2 pm and said he was sick and was coming home. For David to admit to being sick means he is almost dead. When he got home, I called the doctor. The doctor was booked and the receptionist told us to go to the neighborhood acute care clinic. David wasn't going to have any of that, so I left a message with the nurse, followed by David's subzero bass voice with tenor crackles giving the nurse a honest audio of how miserable he felt...worse that what his voice sounded like. They called in an antibiotic and a steroid pack. Don't ever take a steriod dose pack without first premedicating with your prevacid or nexium!
So, back to the store I went to pick up medicine, gummy bears, sprite, apple juice, cranberry juice, and diet, caffeine free dr. pepper to supply David with some of his favorites.
Next morning, I woke up sick. Usually we get sick one at a time and then there is someone reasonable and logical to work with. Not so today. I was still feeling better than David and made a bunch of phone calls to cancel some things.
The only thing left to do was to pick up Deborah from the airport. I drove and David made sure I didn't make a wrong turn. Although it was great to see her, we held up the cross and said, we are both sick, don't hug us.
I guess I did surprise David after all this weekend three times. The first was skipping the book review, I got sick, and best of all: he got to tell me where to go all the way to the airport!
Ya just gotta love the surprises....planned and unplanned.
