Riding horses has its advantages and disadvantages. I did a despooking clinic with Maverick in May. I ended up falling off when Maverick did -3-, 90 degree rickochet dances. I injured my low back and like most nurses, didn't go to the doctor when I should have. When I did go, the doctor put me on prednisone which tore up my stomach.Maverick & I didn't do any riding. I did exercise him on the lunge line. By the time I got myself diagnosed by the gastroenterologist, I had evidence of an ulcer and erosive gastritic (yes, I know this may be too medical and more than you want to here, but suck it up and bare with me) absolutely no more prednisone and then got medicine to heal the stomach. It took 10 weeks to heal. I was able to return to riding again in October. I jumped into lessons in 1st Level Dressage to do a couple of classes in the schooling show.
Maverick and I did pretty good for having been off for so long. I got 2nd in one class and 3rd in another class. We are getting ready for the schooling show in December. We want 1st place next time.
